SAT is finally over. Gosh I hope I didn't do too badly for Math, considering how I left at least 3 blanks in the open ended section. *prays hard* The essay was... okay. But really, there's no saying how things will go. English went pretty well... I think. Overall, I hope that my score will be at least 2200. Which technically is the standard for Hwach. *prays fervently* I need that score. I really don't want to re-take it next year, what with the crazy schedule of blocks, syf, more blocks then As.
Enough of that, now on to something lighter.

I didn't know painting walls would be fun. Really! My room walls were originally this
mint green colour, which totally clashed with the colour of my curtains, which are
gold with flowery swirls. I remember what I envisioned for my room last year - funky
maroon/
turquoise coloured walls, and a shelf in front of my bed, obscuring it from view and turning my room into a truly private labyrinthine space (to unwelcome visitors who want to spy on me when I'm sleeping).
The shelf was moved successfully to the end of the bed, conveniently blocking my rather unsightly sleeping countenance from view. However, I realised that maroon is too dark and turquoise is too bold, making them rather unsuitable colours for a room where I can study and rest in. Just imagine, I'm studying in my room and every time I lift my eyes I see a distracting blur of blue, or a depressing shade of maroon. Not very uplifting eh? So, I trashed the idea of having a funky room (sobsob) and decided to go with a more subdued, sophisticated and elegant look. This was made easier by the fact that my curtains are gold, which already exude an air of class (if I may say so).
After eons of deliberation, I decided to go with a warm colour scheme, since my curtains cast a more warm than cool glow (that's why mint green clashed with it). I vacillated between choosing white, off-white, or light yellow-orange. Eventually, I decided to go with a creamy white colour I found while looking through the Nippon colour catalogue - not too stark, but not too orange either. So, my mom brought me to the neighbourhood paint store, and with the ideal colour in mind, I made my choice. We bought this 5 litre can of paint labelled "
Pale Popcorn". Don't be deceived by the reference to popcorn, which is
yellow; the paint is actually a lovely light yellow/peach/cream white. I found out when I opened the can and started painting my room.
At first... I was a noob. Kept getting paint splashes on the floor paint and onto my shelf while painting a corner of the wall. I eventually got smart, and armed with a vague understanding of the most effective technique (discovered through trial and error), I embarked on my mission of painting the wall. My mom helped too, of course, but my involvement in painting was greater - it's my room afterall! And I painted the part closest to the cornices - the hardest part DDD: yeah yeah I'll admit, I did get a little paint on the undersides of the cornices. Thank goodness 1) I picked a light colour and 2) the paint is easily washable while it's still drying.
Covered the wall in the first coat of paint within 1.5 hours, then left it there to dry. Can't wait to cover the next wall (incidentally the one with the largest surface area), and after that, I'll only be left with a medium sized strip of wall beneath the windows, and two thin strips; one above the curtain rack and one at the corner of the shelf. Whee. I guess having a shelf that covers an entire corner of the room wall and a window that stretches across one entire wall are blessings in disguise.
Righto. Now, on to shower, dinner (not before finishing one more stick very delectable satay my dad bought) and after that, back to work! I think I'm sleeping on the couch tonight. Ahahaha.
